1920s Sterling Mirror With Dolphin Motif

$866.00

An iconic Art Deco design, crafted in sterling silver by Harald Nielsen for George Jensen -- arguably the most renowned silversmith in the world at the time -- this hand mirror features a sleek, streamlined form and a delightful dolphin form on the reverse side. The overall shape of the mirror is very modern and streamlined, but where the handle joins the round mirror, Nielsen included classic Art Deco geometric motifs -- small spheres and radiating forms. Although Denmark and Sweden provided a nurturing environment for several remarkable silversmiths in the Art Deco period, Jensen was incontestably the most celebrated and successful, and for many years, Nielsen was one of his leading designers. The mirror is very well marked on its edge
